Brighton Extension and Sustainable Refurbishment in Conservation Area

Shape Architecture has obtained planning permission for the extension and sustainable refurbishment, including the addition of a heat pump, to a small house in Brighton.  We are now starting on the technical drawings set.

The property is a two storey terraced house located in the Montpelier and Clifton Hill Conservation Area, and is in close proximity to the West Hill Conservation Area.  Planning permission was granted at our first attempt.

A small porch is added to the house to provide additional storage on entry and separation between the outside and the open plan interior.  The ground floor is redesigned to create a more functional and elegant kitchen, set within a light filled contemporary interior.  The heat pump is located on the rear garden elevation.  New underfloor heating will be installed at both ground and first floor levels linked to the heat pump.  To the front garden a timber clad bike store is proposed.

If you are considering a similar project we would be happy to discuss this with you.
