Fulham Extensions
Our portfolio of projects includes many extensions in Fulham. As we update our website with more project information and extensive links to related projects we have focused on a series of Fulham extensions. We highlight the key issues of each project and give guidance and tips for this type of work alongside a series of links to related projects.
Our extensions in Fulham represents a very good sector to explore. We have carried out very many extensions in the borough of all types ranging from side and rear extensions to wraparound extensions. These are very often projects in their own right or as a part of a larger transformation. In providing links to other similar work common themes are clearly apparent. Here the use of glass and transparency is a feature of all the extensions we undertake. This relates to the inclusion of roof lights and also glazed doors and screens onto the garden. Roof lights offer a great opportunity to flood the interior with daylight and provide both views out and reinforce a sense of volume and space. Where they are located in the roof and their size and shape are key and the use of 3D computer models are useful ways to explore a variety of options with our clients.
From the examples we show here, an extension may have a single large roof light or several arranged over the roof or the whole roof could be glazed. The composition of the roof should be considered as a whole. We often use green sedum trays as the final roof finish which in combination with several roof lights always works well. A number of choices present themselves regarding glazed doors onto the garden. Whether bi-fold, sliding or simply hinged. Frame size is also important. Thin frames are always elegant though are likely to cost more. Glazed screens can also connect to a roof light with a frameless glass to glass detail to achieve an elegant and contemporary feel.
