Hove Loft Conversion
Shape Architecture carries out many loft conversions in Brighton and Hove to a wide variety of house types. We have recently completed this loft conversion in Lawrence Road in Hove. The project sees the addition of a rear dormer plus a hip to gable extensiom. The resulting space is large and accommodates a good size bedroom with ensuite and walk in wardrobe. A number of rooflights help fill the interior with light. At ground floor we have also gained planning permission for a side infill extension. This addition helps create an open kitchen living and dining space with a much improved connection to the garden and again filled with light from the incorporation of a large rooflight coupled with and glazed doors.
Hove Loft Design
Throughout the design process we communicate very clearly with our clients and this is primarily through the use of 3D computer models. This is particularly useful in designing windows and rooflights and determining how daylight is brought into the space. We often visit our Clients at their home with a laptop which enables us together to move around the model and discuss design options.
Hove Loft Extension: Technical Design
As well as gaining planning permission we also produce the technical drawing set from which the project can be priced and constructed and also ensure compliance with the Building Regulations. We will obtain quotes from structural engineers and party wall surveyors with whom we have longstanding relationships and work with them once they are appointed. We act as our clients agent providing support at every stage of the project.
Hove Loft Extension: Competitive Tender Process
We will also run a competitive tender process with four or five Contractors we work with to ensure best value for our clients. We will assist in the selection of the Contractor and put the building contract in place. Once on site, if we are appointed for this stage, we will inspect the works as the project progresses and deal with the payments to the Contractor on behalf of our client.
