Courtyard Office – Clapham
Shape Architecture has been asked to look at this back land site in Clapham to create a small office filled with light. The site is challenging due to its size and being bounded on all sides by garden walls.

Long section through office
Nonetheless we have designed a building which when accessed via a wrought iron gate is characterised by a sense of space and light in a garden setting. The transition from outside into the office is via a courtyard garden with planting and space to sit, being a valuable asset to those working in the office.

The roof is a green sedum roof and vastly improves the outlook of the many windows that look down upon the site. Daylight is brought into the interior via a variety of rooflights, ranging from those set into the sedum roof to angled perimeter glazing. Glazed walls give onto the courtyard garden.
