Chiswick Architects
Working as Architects in Chiswick we carry out residential projects of all types and size. We often find that a small extension can serve to transform a home and here we review one of our smaller Chiswick extensions that demonstrates this alongside a description of the design process.
Chiswick Side Infill Extension
At this project in Netheravon Road in Chiswick, the side infill was, as is often the case, a poor quality external space that was rarely used. Building into this area would be no loss to the garden. It would however transform the kitchen and dining room, creating a large, light filled and contemporary space with a far improved connection between the interior and the garden.
The Design Process
Once we have surveyed the property, which we do ourselves, we issue a measured survey brochure to our clients. We then move straight onto the design proposals. We will produce four or five design options to our clients brief. Each communicated in 2D and 3D computer models. We will then issue a proposals brochure to our clients. Once they have had a chance to digest the design options, our director will visit our clients at their home to discuss the proposals and from this a preferred scheme will be arrived at. We will then draw this up and send once more to our clients for final comments. Once signed off we then prepare the planning application drawings and supporting material. We then submit the planning application on behalf of our clients using the online planning portal. During this period we will monitor progress of the application and liaise with the planning department as required until the planning decision is made.
