Extension and Refurbishment in Third Avenue, Hove

We are about to start on site with our project in Third Avenue Hove, where we are creating a duplex flat in a Conservation Area.

The existing ground floor flat sits above an unused and damp storage room.  Shape Architecture has obtained planning permission to create habitable accommodation out of the storage room and link it via an internal stair to the flat above.  Our planning permission also includes the formation of a lightwell to the front to allow more light into the property and general redesign of the existing ground floor area to provide a new kitchen and re-worked bathrooms.

The project has now been worked up in technical detail and following a competitive tender process has been awarded to Sussex Building Services.

Shape Architecture worked closely with the Heritage team at the planning office in forming new terraces and windows to this prominent building.  Great care was taken with the choice of brick and the detailing of the sliding sash windows.

Shape Architecture brought its expertise of basement design having worked on over 40 now to the project, alongside our portfolio of works to listed buildings which help the design and detailing of those elements that were important to within the Conservation Area.
