Extensions and Pod Room in Epirus Road, Fulham
Shape Architecture is submitting a planning application for a Fulham extension project in Epirus Road. This is a part of Fulham where we carry out a lot of work. The project sees the addition of a side infill extension, a loft conversion with dormer extension and a ‘Pod Room’ to the rear over the outrigger and extensive internal remodelling. Our experience of these types of projects and track record of transforming properties, in particular with the use of glass, were reasons our clients selected us to work with them.
Our first action was to carry out the site survey using the practice’s IMapper laser survey device. This ensures an accurate survey is taken. We then drew up the existing building plans, elevations and building sections. We also made a 3D model of the existing property which evolves through the design proves to allow clear communication with our clients.
The addition of a side infill extension and opening up of the interior has transformed the ground floor. The efficient use of spaces, improved circulation and the views between spaces all help create a light and bright contemporary interior. A particular feature is a window onto the garden which merges into a rooflight and does so as frameless glass to glass detail. This adds elegance to the space and provides a welcome connection between the interior and garden beyond. As shown below a number of rooflight designs were explored as a part of the process
A loft conversion with dormer extension adds a bedroom with bathroom and the pod room a further bedroom. The re-working of the interior adds a number of valuable new spaces ranging from the addition of an en-suite and walk-in-wardrobe to the master bedroom to the update of the existing cellar to form a utility room.
