Shape Architecture designs contemporary and elegant kitchen dining rooms filled with natural light. As social spaces they connect seamlessly with the garden beyond.
They are a feature of most of our residential work and whilst they vary in size, they always transform a project.
A new kitchen design might not require an extension but is created via the forming of one large space from several smaller rooms. In addition, we would install a wide run of glazed doors, sliding or bi-folding. A glazing system with narrower frames might also be considered and this will be an elegant feature of the space.
A feature window box seat are popular features.
The addition of a side extension will clearly increase the floor area. It will also allow roof glazing to be incorporated into the design. The roof could be all glass or with a series of elegant roof lights. It might also be a green sedum roof. All of which we undertake regularly. Our Rugby Road project is a simple side extension which with careful consideration utterly transforms the space. This has been recognised by the Royal Institute of British Architects as an exemplar project of its type.
To add further space to a kitchen living and dining room then a wrap around extension should be considered. This should ensure that the three functions of kitchen, dining and the social aspect of the space are all catered for, fully integrated and in no way cluttered. Our basement extension projects would typically include such a layout at ground floor and very often a feature stair linking ground floor to basement extension to ensure both spaces are well integrated.
As with all of our projects the design of kitchen living dining spaces is explored and developed with use of 3D computer graphics. As such any view within the proposed space can be fully understood in terms of views and the impact of natural light.
