Architects in Fulham
Shape Architecture is in the process of surveying a number of properties in Fulham and in Brighton where we have recently been commissioned on several new projects. Here we look at our new project in Dawes Road in Fulham where we are adding a basement and turning the shop into living accommodation.
The first step for each project is to carry out the measured survey. As a practice we carry out our own surveys. This enables us to respond quickly to our client’s instruction and also allows it us to get to know the building thoroughly at an early stage. We have our own digital surveying equipment. Should the survey be complex we rent out a point cloud survey station in which members of our staff are trained.
The measured survey brochure we produce and issue to our clients incorporates floor plans, sections, elevations, a site location plan and site block plan. These then form the basis for all subsequent work. We also produce a 3D model of the existing building, and this will be developed to explore a variety of design options.
Typically we attend site to carry out a survey several days after instruction and the production of all the drawings takes one week.
