• Planning Permission for Rear Extension in Fulham

Shape Architecture has gained planning permission for a rear extension in Peterborough Road in Fulham.  The addition of the extension plus internal remodelling has created a large kitchen and dining space for our client.

We were selected by our client from a list of architects on the basis of our portfolio of similar extension projects in Fulham coupled with our use of glass to create light filled contemporary spaces.

    The challenge.

The existing flow from one space to another was poor. As was the connection between the interior and the garden.  The Kitchen was small and there was no utility room.  These are typical challenges common to many of our clients homes.   There are many ways to improve.

    The response.

The addition of a simple single storey extension enabled us to investigate a range of large rooflights in various forms that serve to flood the interior with light and provide views out.  Large format glazing further helps to connect the interior to the garden beyond.  The additional floor space also sees a cleaner and contemporary kitchen layout with the benefit of a separate utility room.

    Glass and Transparency

Our projects centre around the use of glass in its many forms.  From glass cubes to frameless glass detailing, via rooflights and internal structural glass panels, we create light filled spaces in all our projects.  Glimpses and views help create a coherent and unified space filled with interest.
