Suffolk Road

Working as architects in Barnes we undertake a variety of residential projects and often these include basement extensions.  This basement project in Suffolk Road, Barnes is of interest as it is in large part set below the garden and also adds a ground floor extension. The property is divided into ground and first floor flats and our client sees there ground floor flat totally transformed.

We had previously gained planning permission for another below garden basement in Barnes at Nassau Road.

In each project it is the location of the lightwell that is key in bringing natural light and ventilation into the basement.

Our project in Suffolk Road incorporates an internal courtyard at basement level around which the circulation and rooms are located.  A great sense of openness and the provision of views of the sky serve to make this courtyard a very successful part of the project.
