What’s on the Drawing Board – London
Below is a selection of London projects currently on the drawing board at Shape Architecture. As with our previous Blog on projects in Brighton, this illustrates the range of projects we undertake in terms of location, type and scale.
Petersham Close, Garage into Habitable Space, Kensington
We recently gained planning permission for this Mews property in Kensington to change the existing internal garage into habitable accommodation. We are now drawing up the technical set and working alongside the structural engineer and party wall surveyor as we head towards the competitive tender process.
Peterborough Road, Rear Extension, Fulham
This project sees the addition of a single storey rear extension to a terraced house. A key feature of the extension will be its green sedum roof with large rooflight. The planning application has been submitted.
Beaufort Close, Rear Extension, Ealing
Having already gained planning permission for a two storey side extension we have designed a rear extension which has now been submitted for planning. The house is located in a Conservation Area and much attention has been paid to the material choice and a range of key characteristic details.
Elms Road, Extension and Refurbishment, Clapham
This project is now moving into the detailed design phase. A fully glazed lower ground rear extension will open up the interior onto the garden. A new internal stair in a largely glazed structure linking lower ground with ground floor will improve the flow between spaces. Coupled with the redesign of bathrooms and storage and a small new dormer housing an en-suite will serve to transform this large house in Clapham.
Elbe Street, Extensions plus Roof Terrace, Fulham
Our project at Elbe Street in Fulham is moving towards a start on site. A side infill and loft conversion plus a roof terrace will improve this terraced house adding valuable internal and external space and creating a contemporary and light filled home.
St. Stephens Ave, Garden Studio, Hammersmith
We had previously gained planning permission for this garden studio with a glazed link back to the main house. Our new client has asked us to explore a further application that will add another storey to the garden room and create a two storey garden studio. The planning application has been submitted.
Kemble Hall, Window Replacement, Putney
The freeholders of this apartment block asked Shape Architecture to investigate the change of window type to each apartment to a window that is low maintenance and energy efficient. We followed a Pre App route with the planning authority and have received a positive response. The next stage is the submission of a full planning application.
Eaton Mews, Garage into Habitable Space, Westminster
Having gained planning permission for this project we are now moving into the technical design phase. Similar to our project at Petersham Place, the planning approval is for the change of use of an internal garage into habitable space. Planning permission was also gained for an AC installation.
