Roof and Ground Floor Extension in Hove
This project is interesting as it takes a fairly large house in Hove and illustrates how extensions and refurbishment can create a more considered, contemporary and light filled home, more suited to modern family life. The design sees the addition of a side infill extension and a loft conversion with a hip to gable. The ground floor is opened up and redesigned. Glazed screens and doors ensure that as soon as you enter views of the garden can be had a sense of openness is achieved. The side infill extension creates a far more usable kitchen dining space. A green Sedum roof is formed over the side infill extension providing a far improved view when looking over this space as it melds with the garden. A rooflight cuts through the sedum roof and is linked in a glass to glass detail with a glazed screen. Simple and elegant detailing will add much to this project.
Summary
Hip to Gable Loft Conversion and Rear Extension
The success of this project is in the size of the loft conversion. A hip to gable extension via a Permitted Development application has added a great deal of floor space and a new bedroom with en-suite.
Guide to Loft Conversions in Brighton and Hove
Loft conversions add valuable space to a property. The type of extension be it with the addition of a dormer or a hip to gable extension is an important consideration. The size and location of roof lights should be carefully considered. A room in the loft should be flooded with light. Roof lights over the new stair always work well. The use of a 3D computer model in designing the loft conversion will enable a clear and thorough investigation of all these points.
