Rustington House
Worthing
Private Residential | Seaview extension
Working as architects in Worthing and Brighton, Shape Architecture always seeks to undertake work in the smaller towns adjacent.
Here our project is in Rustington to the west of Worthing. The project takes an existing house which faces the sea with one row of houses between it and the beach. Our Client wanted to know if a form of extension would provide views of the sea.
We started by modelling the property and the adjacent buildings and terrain.
This enabled us to both explore views towards the sea and at the same time communicate clearly with our Client.
The result of this study is that views of the sea can be had. The addition of this extension and associated works will markedly improve the property and our Client’s enjoyment of their home. We have been granted planning permission for this complete transformation of a bungalow.
Summary
Bungalow conversion in Rustington
This project is successful in gaining planning permission to change a fairly typical bungalow into a striking contemporary home with views of the sea and the added benefit of a large roof terrace.
How to convert a Bungalow
Our project in Rustington is a good example of how a bungalow can be transformed. The extension into the roof is key. Here 3D modelling helped us exploit the geometry and available space and ensure an efficient design. Ground floor extensions around the foot print also allow elegant roof lights to be introduced over large and contemporary light filled rooms. Double height spaces can be introduced with the loft floor removed and Velux roof lights set over.
Examples of Bungalow Transformations
Our Bungalow transformation and extension in Seaford also follows similar principles and can be seen in the below link.
