Technical Development of a Project
Following the granting of planning permission the next step is the detailed and technical development of the project. This is a very interesting part of the design and construction process as all elements are looked at in a very broad and detailed way. We will design the kitchen and bathrooms, set out the lighting and electrical design. Produce heating and flooring layouts. Design bespoke furniture such as walk in wardrobes. Provide large scale plans with furniture integrated into each room. Design the garden . We will produce a wide range of detailed large scale drawings to comply with Building Regulations. We will also liaise with other consultants in particular the Structural Engineer and Party Wall Surveyor. All the time acting as the clients agent and dealing with all other third parties on the clients behalf.
Kitchen Design
Shape Architecture will design the kitchen and utility rooms. We will design a series of options both in location and detailed layout. We will meet with the client to agree a preferred layout. This ensures the kitchen is well integrated into the overall design and flow of the design. On this basis we will set out the kitchen in detail. These drawings will then be developed by a specialist kitchen company. We will then integrate their final design back into our drawings to ensure the electrical design is properly co-ordinated.
Bathroom Design
As with the kitchen design we follow a similar process in the design of bathrooms and en-suites. We will design vanity units. We will help specify fixtures and fittings and layout the plan. We will help with the tiling specification and the setting out of the tiles.
Lighting and Electrical Layout
Shape Architecture will design the lighting and electrical layout for the project to ensure it is well integrated with the design approach to the interior design. This will range from task lighting to feature lighting.
Heating Design
We design the heating for our projects. Determine the mix of underfloor heating (water based or electric), radiators and towel radiators.
Bespoke Furniture Design
We have a vast experience of designing bespoke fixed furniture for our clients ranging from bespoke walk in wardrobes to vanity units and everything in between.
Garden Design
Very many of our projects involve us carrying out garden design. A design integrated with the architecture allowing the inside to flow to the outside. An outside room. We will design individual raised planters and seating. Integrating lighting into the design.
Working with the Structural Engineer
A large part of our work during this detailed and technical phase is working with the structural engineer to ensure the structure is well integrated with the architecture both technically and aesthetically.
Working with the Party Wall Surveyor
As with structural engineers we have longstanding relationships with well-established party wall surveyors with whom we liaise with on behalf of our clients.
