Clapham

Private Residential | Roof Terrace

At this project overlooking Clapham Junction we have created a large external terrace and duplex flat.  This is one of earliest roof terrace projects and key in this project as with so many that have followed is the focus on the integration of the outdoor space into the way in which a house is lived in. Here the terrace is very much an outside room. Flowing timber cladding creates seating and viewing areas. Within which lighting and speakers are integrated.

Our portfolio of roof terrace projects has expanded to include roof terraces to many other houses, mews properties, apartment blocks and townhouses and we continue to work on roof terraces across London and Brighton.  These have also included roof terraces to both listed buildings, such as at Florin Court in Westminster and those in Conservation areas such as Norfolk Road in Brighton.

Summary

Roof Terrace, Clapham

For our practice the success of this roof terrace is that it was our first such project and has been followed by many others.  We also added a conversion of the loft spotting create a duplex flat.

Guide to Roof Terraces in Clapham

When we gained planning permission for this roof terrace there were not the range of precedents that now exist.  The argument was put that overlooking was not a sensitive issue and other points such as the material of the balustrading was accepted by the planning authority.

Examples of Roof Terraces

Our portfolio of roof terrace projects is diverse ranging from his project giving onto Clapham Junction to Florin Cort looking over St Pauls Cathedral
