Fulham Basement Extension

Working as Architects in Fulham, Shape Architecture has worked on a large range of basement extension projects in the borough and many more across London. A feature of several of these projects is the use of external glass cubes as a way in which to connect the basement with the ground floor via a feature stair. Our project at Hurlingham Road did this well. This basement extension is in St Dunstans Road includes a glass cube on a slightly smaller scale but still quite striking. The glass cube and stair composition is a clearly expressed feature and as with all our projects was thoroughly explored through a variety of drawings and computer modelling. Walking ‘outside’ to go from one floor to the next works well. Here the stair itself was quite modest. Its setting in a glass cube provides the drama.

Summary

Basement Extension in Fulham  and reworking of ground floor with glass cube extension

The success of this basement project is similar to that at Hurlingham Road albeit on a larger scale.  The addition of a glass cube once more adds so much to the experience of circulating between ground and basement floors and is a distinct feature of this project.

Examples of Fulham Basement Extensions and Whole House Re-Modelling

Common to all our basement projects is the use of glass and transparency enhancing a series of contemporary and well connected spaces.
