Architects in Fulham
Shape Architecture is currently working on the conversion of a terraced house in Fulham into a single family home from its present division as several flats. As architects in Fulham this project is of great interest given the opportunity to create a spacious and light filled home.
Contemporary Design
The Ground floor is made entirely open to create a spacious and light filled interior with excellent views onto the garden beyond. At present it exists as a ground floor flat, and on entry there is no sense of space and no connection with the garden. Even when in the kitchen the view of the garden is from a small window. The proposed design opens the garden onto the kitchen dining space with the addition of large sliding folding doors. A curved step defines the front and rear sections of the ground floor.
Side Extension
A side extension is added to create a full width floor plan at the rear of the property and in doing so create a space where the owners can cook and eat and sit and enjoy the views onto the garden. The quality of space offered by our various side extensions in Fulham is determined by the way in which light is brought into the space through a variety of rooflights. In this instance the roof is formed entirely in glass with a mix of fixed and openable sections. The dining room table is set below the rooflight.
Pod Room
The project also includes a pod room. We have undertaken many pod rooms in Fulham and they always add valuable space and are well placed in relation to the internal planning of the dwelling. Their use varies from bedrooms to bathrooms and study.
Interior Design
Shape Architecture is working with the client on the interior design of this project. This ranges from designing a series of fixed furniture items and a walk-in wardrobe t the design of a bespoke record and book storage unit that also encloses a sitting space. We have a great deal of experience of designing bespoke wardrobes and other items of fixed furniture and can provide our clients with a large array of examples as a source of ideas.
Fulham Architects
As with many of our projects in Fulham this project includes elements common to others such as side extensions, pod rooms and the focus on a spacious interior filled with light. It nonetheless achieves a distinct character of its own through the collaboration between Client and Architect.
